Just returned from a whirlwind trip to upstate New York for Paul’s grandmother’s funeral. The service was truly a beautiful celebration of a wonderful lady’s life. I welcomed the chance to learn more about this fantastic woman of God. She lived a life truly submitted to God, and her children’s testimonies just reiterated that again and again throughout the weekend. She and her husband were charter members at two churches and were faithful servants in each church for several years. They were married 60+ years (should have taken notes..my memory is failing me!), and raised children who loved the Lord and were taught to serve Him, too!
It thoroughly blessed me to hear her children speak so sweetly of their time spent in her home. It reminded me of the Proverbs 31 woman, “Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her (28).” Though her husband, Ralph, did not give a public testimony in front of a crowd, his love and pride for his beautiful bride was written all over his face and in every inch of the home they shared together.
It amazes me what the Lord can do with what we give to Him. There are many Taubes serving Him with their lives, and there are three missionaries coming out of this family as well. Aside from just the matchless grace of Jesus, I attribute much of this to the faithfulness of our family. Because Grandma Taube faithfully loved Jesus and her family and taught her children to do the same, she will soon have three grand-children and likely a whole slew of great-grand children living in Asia telling those who haven’t heard of the Savior she loved so well! We may be fulfilling the Great Commission abroad, but we would not be able to do this had it not been fulfilled in our homes and in our churches first! We are so thankful for our godly heritage!
Jolynn and her Great Grandpa Taube. She was so sweet with him. I pray that my sweet girl and her irresistible smile blessed his soul in a small way. Well, here come the tears again…I am thankful that there are no tears in Heaven where LaVeda waits until the Lord calls all her family home and for the comfort and grace He gives as we wait, too.
